Fedoras and Dragons and Tea, Oh My!

As Eldri told Mitch, she never expected to be standing on a street corner in London at 2:00am, but that totally happened.  Although the helpful baggage service said our bags would be delivered between 10:46pm and 12:46am, the driver did not arrive until 2am.  Eldri and I met the driver on the street and lugged 7 bags up the 68 stairs to our flat.  We rolled with it and everyone was VERY happy this morning!

After reveling in our new riches (clothes we packed just a few days ago seemed so new and exciting today), we made our way to the Portobello Road Market and took in the sights.  We also ate, watched music, and bought a few items (most notably, Marit's fedora which she loves with all her heart):

Ellie and I also had a pineapple smoothie in a real pineapple:

Ellie was particularly fond of the bass player we happened upon:

Here he is spinning his bass.  I quickly leaned over to her and said "please don't do that with your bass..."  I am sure she won't try it -- at least not in front of me.

After the market, we headed for Kensington Palace.  We did not have time to tour the palace today because we had reservations for afternoon tea at the Orangery.  It was absolutely lovely.

There were tiny sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and dainty desserts.

As evidenced by the "after" picture, we thought the food was pretty good.

Our agenda for the day was done, but we were not, so we decided to jump on a Thames boat cruise (this seemed like a low key way to end the night -- sitting and taking in the sights).

We got off at the Tower Hill stop and I tried to up my selfie game (self-rating: "shows improvement"):

On the Thames cruise, Maggie and grandma hatched a plan.  Why end the day now????  When we could go to Harrods...  World famous and just a few tube stops away (I may have fallen asleep on the tube between the Tower and Harrods).

Did you know they have giant stuffed animals in the toy department?

Marit found this dragon she just couldn't leave at the store.  We memorialized the fedora/dragon with a selfie passing through the Leicester Square stop on our way home (self-rating: "best one yet -- keep trying"):

We have big plans to get up early and see the Tower of London tomorrow.  Blogging at 11:51pm might cause me to nap on the tube again, but it was totally worth it.  Bedtime!
